Esprit de corps Center for learning

Preparing students for college and the world

On July 29, 2001, Esprit de Corps Center for Learning (EDC) was dedicated — a fully private, non-chartered educational facility. The school opened with classes in grades K through 7, and now serves from K-12, with room for upcoming college courses as well.

The school's auditorium was named after Mother Gladys Hunt, the mother of our pastor and founder, Dr. Jeannette C. Holmes-Vann, and a much respected and loved mother of Hope Chapel Ministries.

In 2007, Esprit de Corps had its inaugural commencement ceremonies, recognizing the first graduating senior class.

Later that same year, just as it had been spoken by the pastor, Hope Chapel dedicated its very own, state-of-the-art, Multipurpose Sports Complex and NBA-quality gymnasium, with a fine arts building right on its heels.
Academic achievement and excellence is important at EDC, but equally important is the teaching of biblical concepts, godly morals and standards.

The spiritual emphasis and biblical view, which permeates the A-Beka curriculum, coupled with weekly chapel services, travel opportunities and special events, enables EDC to meet the growing needs of each child spiritually, academically, physically and socially.

Fully qualified, degreed and certified staff and teachers respect the individuality of each student and work to nurture critical thinking, while expanding the student's mind and experiences so that each child becomes a well-rounded individual.
A high percentage of parental involvement enriches the success of the school. Technology is a top priority, beginning with teachers who now prepare electronic lesson plans and use an online grading process.

Student achievement is demonstrated through the high number of EDC students who make the honor roll each semester. Additional honors include:

• Afro-American History Brain Brawl, Elementary and Middle School 1st place, for two years
• Ritz Theatre Oratory Contest, 1st and 2nd place winner (2010), 3rd place winner (2011)
• EDC Warriors District 3 1A Basketball Champions (2011)
• Recognized as a model school by Step Up for Students scholarship program
• Two students selected as Florida Senate Pages
• Graduated 10 classes with a 100 percent graduation rate with a majority of students continuing their education and received full or partial scholarships
• Accredited by the Florida Council of Private Schools (2010) and the Association of Christian Schools International
• Student Denisha Merriweather served as a major speaker for Step-up for Students scholarship program

We prepare students not only for college, but for the world we live in today and tomorrow.

We strive for a track record of academics supported by above-average scores on nationally standardized achievement tests, but we also want to produce a generation of students who know, love and serve God.
