Impact Christian Academy (ICA), which opened in August 2015, is a college-preparatory Christian school consisting of grades K2 through 11, with grade 12 to follow in 2017-18.
A purposeful education
One of the principal reasons for the school's existence is to provide an education that is purposeful and intentional in its spiritual vitality and educational excellence.
There are three critical steps in this process.
The first step is to provide Christian teachers who are the best of the best. Teachers at Impact Christian Academy will love God, love their students, love their subjects, love the art of teaching, and will be willing to share their lives with their students.
The second step is to partner with likeminded Christian parents and churches in the spiritual formation and education of the students. Kingdom Education, the philosophy of Impact Christian Academy, focuses on bringing the home, church and Christian school into a partnership for the purpose of training the next generation.
The third step in achieving academic success is to have clearly defined learning objectives that align with appropriate resources, including a three-year professional development plan for our staff that brings learning objectives and resources together. The plan includes training in a biblical world view, biblical integration, best teaching practices and technology integration in the classroom.
Preparing for academic excellence
To prepare its students to serve Christ in this competitive, global world of the 21st century, Impact Christian Academy is deeply committed to academic excellence. The academic program is comprehensive, college-preparatory, and taught within a Christian framework. Beginning in kindergarten, the program is designed to lay a solid academic, intellectual and spiritual foundation for the students. ICA students are challenged to excel as they are being prepared for the nation's best colleges and universities.
The role of technology
The world is changing rapidly, and today's children are growing up in an information-based, technology-rich, globalized world. ICA is committed to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. An essential part of this preparation is teaching students to use technology to access, analyze, organize, synthesize and communicate information. ICA provides access to sophisticated technology through interactive SMART Board Technology and the Learning Unleashed 1:1 computing program.
Athletics to teach life skills
The purpose of the athletic program at ICA is to provide students a setting in which to glorify God through the development and exercise of personal character, sportsmanship, self-discipline and athletic ability. Skilled athletes will be encouraged to do their best and to learn the vital life skill of being a team player. In victory or defeat, students will be taught to demonstrate both grace and dignity. ICA will offer students the opportunity to be part of an outstanding athletic program that will shape character, develop leadership skills and create a lifetime of memories.
Developing a biblical world view
One of the most distinctive elements of ICA is the school's intentional focus on developing a biblical world view. These efforts are not limited to the students, but will also extend to the faculty and parents, as well.
While other schools may talk about the importance of a biblical world view, ICA is intentional about ensuring that students, staff and parents are given opportunities to engage in the hard thinking necessary to learn how to think critically and Christianly about the world around them.
Foundations for reading
Foundations & Frameworks is a uniquely designed reading program incorporating research-based strategies into an instructional framework enabling the best practices of reading instruction. Studies using standardized measures support its benefits to learners indicating growth in reading comprehension, vocabulary and critical thinking. Impact Christian Academy is the only school in Northeast Florida that has invested in this program.
